Product Introduction: Cylinder Cage

1. Product Overview

Cylinder cage is a core protective and positioning assembly on the fluid end of triplex mud pumps, also named cylinder liner retainer cage. It is sleeved outside the cylinder liner, used to constrain the radial and axial displacement of the cylinder liner, share periodic hydraulic impact load of drilling fluid, and protect the cylinder liner from direct extrusion deformation. It works with cylinder flange, cylinder liner flange and sealing rings to form a complete cylinder pressure-bearing unit.

2. Material & Production Technology

Integrally forged from high-strength alloy steel, treated by quenching and tempering heat treatment to gain high rigidity, compressive resistance and fatigue resistance against long-term alternating slurry shock.
  • Uniform wall thickness design to disperse pressure evenly without local stress concentration;

  • Precision inner bore matching the outer circle of cylinder liner for tight fitting and coaxial positioning;

  • Outer circumference with positioning shoulders and bolt fitting surfaces to lock with cylinder flange;

  • Surface shot blasting + anti-corrosion coating, resistant to mud, water vapor and outdoor harsh construction environment;

  • Built-in annular sealing grooves for installing sealing rings to isolate mud infiltration between cage and liner.

3. Key Structural Features

  1. Full-surround limit structure

    The cage wraps the main body of cylinder liner comprehensively, prevents liner expansion, bouncing and radial offset under high-pressure reciprocating impact, greatly reduces liner eccentric wear.

  2. Load-sharing pressure-bearing design

    Transmit part of the slurry impact force to the fluid end pump housing, reduce direct pressure borne by the thin-walled cylinder liner and extend liner service life.

  3. Integrated positioning step

    Dual front and rear shoulders cooperate with cylinder flange and cylinder liner flange to lock the liner in three directions (axial, radial, circumferential), eliminating liner loosening risk during continuous pump operation.

  4. Standard interchangeable size

    Unified inner diameter, outer diameter and mounting hole parameters, compatible with mainstream mud pump cylinder liners and flanges, easy independent disassembly and on-site replacement.

4. Core Functions

  1. Cylinder liner protection & fixation

    Wrap and restrain the cylinder liner to avoid deformation, jumping and offset caused by high-pressure drilling fluid impact.

  2. Auxiliary pressure bearing

    Disperse cyclic hydraulic shock, reduce the load of the cylinder liner and fluid end pump body.

  3. Auxiliary sealing isolation

    Cooperate with sealing rings to block high-pressure mud from seeping into the assembly gap between liner and cage.

  4. Maintain assembly coaxiality

    Ensure the concentric operation of liner, extension rod and piston, lower wear loss of pistons and packing consumables.

5. Application Scope

Matching all types of triplex mud pumps for oil & gas drilling, horizontal directional crossing and geological exploration. Installed between cylinder flange and cylinder liner flange, closely fitted outside the cylinder liner as the outer protective support of the pressure chamber.
